Mac screen extension, without a receiver app

Install Framehop on your Mac. The Windows computer only needs Chrome and your Mac’s pairing link.

Extend or mirror

Add a separate desktop for extra windows, or mirror your Mac’s main screen. Choose the mode in Framehop.

Resolution and HiDPI

Choose the pixel resolution, use 2× HiDPI scaling, and save each display’s settings and position.

Direct local streaming

Desktop video travels over your Wi-Fi or Ethernet network using WebRTC. Use a trusted network.

Receiver controls

Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, rotation, and fit. View the stream fullscreen in your browser.

Connect your Mac to Windows

  1. Start the display on your Mac

Open Framehop, allow Screen Recording, choose Extend desktop or Mirror main display, then start sharing.

  2. Open the pairing link in Chrome

Connect Windows to the same local network, then enter the address and pairing code shown in Framehop.

  3. Arrange your displays

For Extend, position Framehop Virtual Display in macOS Displays settings, then move windows onto it. Mirror shows your Mac’s main screen.

Keep your pairing link private. Guest Wi-Fi and firewalls can prevent devices from connecting.

Free and Pro

Free has no watermark or session timer. Pro adds Windows mouse control and more display options.

Requirements and questions

Can I mirror my Mac screen instead of extending it?

Yes. Choose Mirror main display in Framehop to show the same desktop on your Mac and Windows screens. Framehop keeps its virtual display and sets it to mirror your Mac’s main display in macOS. Choose Extend desktop to return to a separate desktop; your saved arrangement is restored. Both modes are included in Free.

What do I need?

A Mac with macOS 14 or later, a Windows computer with Chrome, and a shared trusted local network. Framehop requires Screen Recording permission on the Mac.

Does it send my desktop through a cloud service?

Desktop video streams directly over your local network. Pro account, payment, and licence checks use online services. The local pairing page uses HTTP, so use a network you trust.

Does it support keyboard input or audio?

Keyboard input stays on the Mac. Audio streaming is not currently supported.

Where can I download Framehop?

Download Framehop for macOS directly from this website. This release supports Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later and is not notarized by Apple. See the installation steps if macOS blocks the app.
